Listing off this year’s most highly anticipated books – and I can’t wait to get started on them!
Time to put my reading glasses on (but jokes, because I wear glasses 24/7).
Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love to read. Every year I set myself up with a reading challenge as a part of my new year’s goals (pfft, who needs resolutions when you can work your way through SMART Goals, #amirite?!).
But before I get excited for this year, and talk about the fact that I read 50 books back in 2014, I have to admit…
Since entering parenthood, I have yet to hit one of my reading goals.
How to Read More When You’re a Mom
I should take a page out of my own book (no pun intended). To self-reflect, I once highlighted all the different ways a new mom could fit more reading time in her busy schedule.
Let me tell you: the tips work. I reached my last couple of reading goals about halfway because I was so dedicated in taking time for me (well, for the first few months of the year).
This time I have to be more committed.
Creating a No-Pressure Must-Read List
Okay, 2020 – let’s not jinx it this time. Rather than following my traditional reading challenge, I’m compiling a list of this year’s best books.
In 2019, I highlighted the year’s must-reads and I was extremely happy to see that y’all loved it. So I’ve decided to do the same for the new decade.
To get myself pumped, I’m aiming to read as many as I can from this list. I won’t set myself with a specific number of books this time around. I gave myself enough new year’s goals as it is, and I want to keep my reading time an enjoyable hobby (much like I did when I was younger), rather than turning it into a chore.
Here it goes… the best books of 2020!
The Best Books to Read in 2020
Fiction & Literature
I’m starting the list with four titles that come in highly recommended in fiction. In particular, “Recipe for a Perfect Wife” is a dual narrative that talks about a modern-day woman who finds hidden notes in her home, left by the previous owner’s 1950’s housewife. It’s definitely one of the first titles I’ll be digging into this year!
Young Adult Novels
I have no shame in admitting that I can really get into YA novels. I was beyond stoked to see that a prequel to the highly-acclaimed Hunger Games series was released: “The Ball of Songbirds and Snakes.” Yes!
The Best in Business Books
Officially, my first read of 2020 will be the book Joe gifted me for Christmas: “Tech Boss Lady.” It’s super inspirational for bloggers, content creators and overall, women entrepreneurs. These other titles have also been highly rated and have already received fantastic reviews across the board:
Biographies & Other Works of Non-Fiction
I always, ALWAYS try to sneak in a couple of good biographies and works of non-fiction into my reading list. Here are a few you’ll have to check out this year:
Dear Girls: Intimate Tales, Untold Secrets & Advice for Living Your Best Life by Ali Wong
Me: Elton John Official Autobiography by Elton John
The Art of Making Memories by Meik Wiking
From this list, which books are you most excited for?
