Here’s our family’s nesting to-do list: getting ready for baby’s grand entrance with minimal effort but also, huge impact.
Plus, some of our (newest) favourite baby items.
I have always decorated and organized my home with a “minimalist style” approach. It’s like what they say: “Less is more.” I’d much rather purchase fewer products of higher quality than own a million items that I’d have to fix/get rid of in the short-term.
With baby number 2 arriving in a few months, I’ve officially turned on my “mama nesting” mode. We recently moved into our home, so there are a few changes I needed to make in order to accommodate being a mom of two.
Here is what we’ve completed (so far!) on our simple nesting to-do list:
Our Family’s Simple Approach to Nesting:
Bi-Weekly Efforts in Cleaning
My husband and I have always been good about deep cleaning our home. Normally, our deep clean rituals ran once a month, but now, we’re partaking in bi-weekly cleaning routines to keep our home sparkling more consistently. (Also, hubby has been taking on the majority of the work since, you know, I’m pregnant! Bless his heart!)
Clothes and Hand-Me-Downs
I picked up a new dresser set for baby #2. Slowly but surely, I’ve been organizing it with clothes by size and garment type.
A part of this preparation involves organizing clothes that will be handed down from baby #1 and figuring out what I need to buy brand new.
Re-Organizing the Nursery/Shared Room
A huge step in our nesting to-do list was re-organizing the (new!) shared room in our home. Transforming the space to become a nursery/toddler room was tons of fun – and made for a great de-clutter project.
Hospital Bag Prep
I’m not due for another couple of months, but I’ve been slowly picking up items for my hospital bag: nursing pads, sanitary napkins, small pack of diapers, etc.
Living Room Prep
We spend the majority of our time in the living room. I had a special console/mantle made to keep things decorative but also, organized. I plan on placing 3 bins underneath the console table – one for toys, one for blankies and the last, for diapers and wipes. Stylish and functional? Sign me up!
The Dining Area
We took out our trusty high chair from storage and rearranged our dining room to accommodate baby number 2. Plus, we made sure to pick up a new set of bottles, pacifiers, and bibs.
State-of-the-Art Baby Monitor
When I gave birth to my first, we were gifted a simple baby monitor that did the trick, but was more of the classic one-way “walkie-talkie” device.
As my baby grew older, I noticed more upscale monitors hitting the market. I knew that for our next (I always wanted to grow our family!), I wanted something that went beyond our expectations.
Lo and behold, I discovered the Miku Smart Baby Monitor. Surprisingly, I found out about them while scrolling through social media. Their Instagram feed caught my eye immediately because it was informative and also, very engaging with beautiful, bright photos.
As a part of our nesting process, we are SO incredibly excited to install the Miku Smart Baby Monitor in our kiddos’ shared nursery/toddler room. It will go right above baby’s crib and with its advanced technology, it will offer real-time breathing and sleep tracking, and of course, help us monitor our little one.
What I love about the Miku is that it connects to my phone, so I can track baby’s sleep wherever I am in the house.
Here are some other impressive features that make me so excited for owning a Miku Smart Baby Monitor:
SensorFusion Technology
Miku is the first ever baby monitor to track your baby’s breathing, sounds, and sleeping patterns with no physical contact. This is all made possible with their patented SensorFusion technology.
Speakers and Two-Way Microphones
The Miku features custom dual Ole Wolff speakers and a two-way microphone. This allows original sleep sounds and lullabies to be played while baby enjoys their sleep.
Also, the two-way microphone feature allows you to talk to your baby as you make your way to the nursery.
Sleep Analytics
The Miku Smart Baby Monitor graphs and keeps track of your baby’s sleeping habits. These statistics can further help you create an ideal sleep environment for your little one.
I am beyond impressed with this baby monitor. I can’t wait to put it to good use! For my fellow Canadians, the Miku Smart Baby Monitor is now available at Best Buy, retailing at $549. You can also find it on Amazon Canada – ready to be ordered (and available for Prime shipping as well!)
