As the world navigates a “new normal,” families are finding ways to celebrate togetherness while staying safe.

Here are a few of our favourite “social distancing” activities.
The world certainly feels different as we all navigate Covid-19. In Canada, we’re at a particular phase where the majority of businesses have re-opened and started operations again. Of course, there are new regulations and standards to follow – all in hopes to keep everyone safe and healthy.
We’re grateful for these extra precautions. Back in March when our city was in lockdown, our little family discovered many “at home” activities to stay safe, sane, and entertained. Now that stores, restaurants, and entertainment centres have opened up, we’ve slowly started participating in more out-of-home events.
Quartier DIX30 is Our Favourite Place to Be
It comes to no surprise that Quartier DIX30 is one of our most favourite places ever. I’ve blogged about them before – and if you follow me on Instagram, you would have already seen endless stories of us spending time there.

For those of you who don’t know, Quartier DIX30 is Canada’s largest lifestyle centre – with hundreds of stores, restaurants, and hot spots for family entertainment. Not to mention, they ALWAYS have amazing events taking place (remember the time we visited their Farmer’s Market or attended their Block Party?).

Now that we have the green light, we’re thrilled to head back to our favourite destination to shop, dine, and have tons of fun. Of course, Quartier DIX30 is taking all of the proper precautions to keep shoppers and visitors safe.
Here’s how our family enjoys Quartier DIX30 and all it has to offer – even during our world’s “new normal”:
How Our Family Safely Enjoys Quartier DIX30

Hand Sanitizer Everywhere!
At the storefront of every DIX30 boutique and restaurant, you’ll find hand sanitizer to put on before entering the premises. Moreover, there are hand sanitizer stations located all over the outdoor portion of the grand lifestyle centre.
Increased Walking Areas
Quartier DIX30 re-worked its roads and sidewalks to increase pedestrian space. This gives visitors enough space to keep a safe distance from one another. DIX30 also put up signs (as friendly reminders, of course) to wear masks in indoor areas, the number of people allowed in elevators, etc.

Fun Activities for the Whole Family
As mentioned, Quartier DIX30 houses tons of family-friendly activities. They’ve got a long list on their store directory, including areas for surfing, impressive movie theatres, escape rooms, and even virtual reality experiences.
This past weekend, our family headed over for some virtual reality fun at Mont VR – and boy, did we have a blast!

Normally, Mont VR recommends their activities to kiddos 8 years old and up. However, they were very encouraging and let my toddler try it out. And guess what? He absolutely loved it!
We felt ultra safe at Mont VR – everything was completely clean and we were welcomed with a courteous staff. The entire area boasted sectioned booths so that every family could enjoy their experience in separate spaces. Plus, they took all measures to keep things sanitized, including their equipment, helmets, etc.

We enjoyed a full session in their virtual reality booth, where you put on a VR helmet and choose games from their VR menu. My husband combatted zombies, I participated in a virtual dance-off, and my little one kept himself amused with a “Job Simulator” game.
We also tried their flight simulator, and my little one took full advantage of it. He “soared” through the sky, overlooking dinosaurs (dinosaurs are HUGE in our household right now). We all had a blast!
So Many Terraces!
By early July, restaurants in Quebec started to slowly open up – taking the safest precautions, of course. To respond to this, Quartier DIX30’s amazing roster of restaurants expanded their terrace areas, giving guests a better chance to dine at a safe distance from others.
As a foodie, this was something I was incredibly happy to see!

Sushi for the Whole Family
For one of our family activities, we headed over to Niji Sushi Bar and it was SUCH a treat! Of course, we sat outside, in their well-sectioned terrace.
We indulged in some of their best rolls: I devoured their 100% cooked sushi (ie.: sushi rolls safe for pregnant women – my “craving prayers” have been answered!) and my husband, sushi from their new (and super impressive) Keto menu.
Yep, I said it: Keto sushi!
One of my husband’s favorite Keto rolls was their Mademoiselle Ko, filled with crab meat, pork rind, tobiko, spicy mayo, soya paper, tuna sashimi and avocado.
Do I have you drooling yet?

My personal favourite is their TMR roll, which is generously filled with tempura shrimp, crab, massago, mango, strawberry and mango slices. Plus, it’s served with an out-of-this-world kim-chi sauce. The entire thing is just beyond!

As you can see, Quartier DIX30 put in a lot of planning and continuous efforts to keep visitors safe and healthy. We take great pride that Canada’s largest lifestyle centre is so close to our home – and so thoughtful of its shoppers. We can’t wait to go back next weekend!
I am drooling over the sushi. I am a huge fan of sushi.
I wish it was safe for us to go and do things, but our area still has increasing cases. We’ve been staying home since March.
Say what? Keto sushi!!! Holy heck that is amazing – my husband needs that. Otherwise, I am thrilled that Dix30 is being so safe and allowing people to venture out again without too much worry.
I need to plan a trip to Montreal when all of this is over. I live in Ontario. I would love to try Mont VR and I am sure my teenage son would too.
This the perfect family place to have some fun time together! Love that there are a lot of terraces! And the food is amazing!
Looks like you had so much fun! It’s great that they prioritize safety of everyone.
