Here are the sweet touches we added to our Christmas Dessert Table this year.
Major tablescape inspiration!
Every year, I like to host some form of a holiday party. Whether it’s having our entire family over on Christmas day (my sister and I alternate every year) or a “Friendsgiving” dinner, there’s always something going on in our home.
This year I decided to throw a low-key Christmas get-together for my friends. As a work-at-home-mom, I don’t get a chance at an “office holiday party,” so I figured: why not throw one of my own? Of course, our mini celebration was complete with a delicious Christmas dessert table. You all know that I have a huge sweet tooth. For me, no party is complete without a spread of ultra delicious treats.
Here are my tips for putting together a beautiful Christmas dessert table:
How To Put Together a Christmas Dessert Table
No Christmas dessert table is complete without some festive add-ons. When decorating your tablescape, try to be on the more subtle side. Treat your desserts as the main focus. Decorations should be simple enough to accent your sweets.
Most desserts are presented on flat platters, so I aim to present some sweets on cake stands or in wine glasses. Adding height is visually appealing for any Christmas dessert table. This is why I made sure to purchase a pie – I put it on a bright stand behind the rest of the desserts.
Give Yourself a Break!
Speaking of purchasing… ordering desserts is never a bad thing! It’s hard enough playing host/hostess – give yourself a break by picking up your treats from a trusted, local bakery. Lucky for our family, I have Première Moisson right around the corner from our house.
Première Moisson is a Canadian chain of artisanal bakeries with a huge presence in Quebec. Their focus is on high-quality French breads and pastries. Trust me when I say that quality is a true part of their mission. What I admire most about Première Moisson is their consistency in delivering impressive food – each and every time.
When I host parties (which is often), I always turn to Première Moisson for catering. It gives me a break so that I can place a focus on other party-related things (like décor and clean up). When I order from Première Moisson, I’m reassured that my guests will be enjoying their appetizers, meals, and desserts all night long.
Centre of Attention
When putting together a Christmas dessert table, you should always have a pièce de résistance. Every year, we opt for one of Première Moisson’s yule logs. This year, we chose their Chocolate Caramel Pecan yule log and boy, did we choose wisely! Full of delicious flavour and wonderful texture, you can bet we didn’t have any leftovers after our party!
Something for the Kids
While cookies are usually for Santa during this time of the year, I opted to add Première Moisson’s adorable selection of holiday cookies. These treats are geared towards the kiddos – I always try to put a dessert that’s kid-friendly and these cookies totally fit the bill.
