It’s time to celebrate your friend’s precious arrival – so, here are some of our baby shower gift ideas.

Baby showers are just as fun to shop for as they are to attend.
Those of you who know me know that I love throwing a party. The idea of organizing an event, where the sole purpose is to gather loved ones and eat good food, really gets my creative juices flowing.
Of course, playing invitee to any kind of celebration is just as enjoyable. Weddings and baby showers are at the top on my list because they create special, one-of-a-kind memories.
Baby showers in particular are tons of fun for the gifting aspect. Even pre-parenthood, I would “ohh” and “aww” at the cuteness of items I’d find on my friends’ registries.
Now that I’ve attended plenty of baby showers and, of course, held one of my own, I like to think I’m seasoned at the art of celebration! While honoring the registry wishes of these new moms and dads, there are a few add-on gift items that can further elevate their experience as they enter parenthood.
Here are a few baby shower gift ideas to keep in-mind:
Baby Shower Gift Ideas That Mommy & Baby Will Love
The idea behind these parties is to “shower” parents and bundles of joy with thoughtful gifts. They help mom and dad with stocking up on the essentials (and all the cute items, too!) in hopes of better preparing them for their joyful, new arrival.
A Photo Album to Help Mom Build Memories
A picture is worth a thousand words – and any mom knows that future parents will snap endless pics of their little ones.
I love giving photo albums, as gifts, for exactly this reason.
While I was on maternity leave, I started building Leo’s scrapbook, tracking his monthly progress and capturing all of his milestones in photo format. I always appreciated any kind of gift that would help bring his album together.
Something for Mama
Some of my favorite baby shower gifts are those that commemorate mom. Let’s face it, without mom, there wouldn’t be anything to celebrate!
Her days will definitely be much busier here on out, so why not gift something that she could use for her… and only her?
For this exact reason, a magazine subscription is a great way to remind mama to relax, unwind and not neglect “me time.”
Everyday Items
While that tiny, frilly dress and matching headband may seem mighty cute, expectant parents also appreciate those everyday items that’ll get them through their new adventure. I really appreciated receiving diapers, wipes and even nursing pads.
Nursing pads are the type of items that you don’t realize you need them until… well, you need them! Throughout my breastfeeding term, I turned to JOHNSON’S Nursing Pads as my trusted brand. Entering motherhood, I learned the importance of brand loyalty and sticking with certain names for specific products. Just like a beauty regimen, you quickly see what works best for you (and your little one). JOHNSON’S® Nursing Pads never let me down: they’re discrete but offer maximum protection. The pads themselves are made of a special polymer that helps absorbs moisture. I always loved how cool and comfortable they were. Of course, as a new mom, I was getting accustomed to my new body and their nursing pads were so reliable and soothing.
Sentimental Items
One of my favourite baby shower gifts was actually from my best friend’s mom. She presented me with a knit blankie and then proceeded to explain that it was the same one that belonged to my bestie when she was a baby. It immediately brought me to tears. It takes a lot for a mother to part with a sentimental item. That loving gesture showed just how involved we are in each other’s lives – it’s a gift I’ll never forget.
Sentimental items that hold history are also the kind that can build new memories. So, these kinds of gifts are perfect for any baby shower.
Bath Products
Bath time is a fun activity that most newborns enjoy; new parents go through a lot of bath products!
As we already mentioned about brand loyalty, JOHNSON’S® has been a huge contender in the baby industry for decades. I remember my mom keeping their tear-free shampoo in our bathroom all the time.
Recently, JOHNSON’S® listened to parents’ concerns from all around the world. Parents spoke-up and expressed how they wanted products with only natural ingredients. However, JOHNSON’S® scientists realized that not all natural ingredients are safe for babies. That’s why the reformulated JOHNSON’S® products use more ingredients of natural origin but make sure they don’t compromise on babies’ safety.
So, the household name we’ve come to love after all these years has become even better. Still soft, still gentle (and still smelling great!), reformulated JOHNSON’S® products are also designed to be as close to baby’s natural skin pH and hair pH as possible. This helps avoid disrupting babies’ skin barrier, which takes time to develop. Any disruption of your baby’s skin barrier can cause moisture loss and lead to dryness or redness.
Recently, JOHNSON’S® came out with the cutest ensembles that make for the perfect (and easiest!) gifts. These include their BEDTIME®, HEAD-TO-TOE® and COTTONTOUCHTM gift sets.
The packaging on these gift sets are more than ideal, all boxed-up and ready to go. The COTTONTOUCHTM gift set in particular is perfect for a baby shower because the formula is especially designed for newborns.
Babies’ skin is 30% thinner than adults’ so they can lose moisture twice as fast. COTTONTOUCHTM products are ultra-light, pH balanced and made with real cotton. The Newborn Wash & Shampoo is made of a soft, light formula that comes to a velvety lather that rinses off easily. The set also comes with the new COTTONTOUCHTM Newborn Face & Body Lotion, which boasts a water-based formula that absorbs quickly without leaving any residue on newborns’ skin.
What I love most is that COTTONTOUCHTM products are free of parabens, phthalates, dyes, sulfates. As a parent, this truly reassures me. In fact, it encourages me even more to gift JOHNSON’S® re-imagined and gentler products to my other mama friends.
Every COTTONTOUCH™ gift set includes:
- JOHNSON’S® COTTONTOUCH™ Newborn Wash & Shampoo
- JOHNSON’S® COTTONTOUCH™ Newborn Face & Body Lotion
- JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO-TOE® Baby Washcloths
- PENATEN®
I love it when companies take the time to continuously improve their product offerings. Over the years, JOHNSON’S® has become a trusted household name and it’s reassuring to know that they never stop raising the bar when it comes to what’s best for baby. Now, 96% of their ingredients are naturally derived or of natural origin.
To sum-up our favorite baby shower gift ideas:
- A photo album for building memories
- Magazine subscription for mom
- Everyday items like diapers, wipes, and nursing pads
- Sentimental items like a knit blankie or hand-me-down
- Bath products like JOHNSON’S® COTTONTOUCHTM gift set (all you have to do is wrap it!)

I love these gift ideas! I am not a fan of attending Baby Showers because of the cheesy games, but I will always drop off a gift at least.
oh my goodness yes- there is nothing better then this adorable shampoo and wash for newborn babies! its a great gift too!
Thank you so much for this – I have to admit I am not good at baby gift ideas, so all help is welcome, as I do think it is a time to treat baby and family!
These ideas are so sweet! I didn’t know about the Cottontouch products. Those sound really helpful and safe for baby’s skin.
You can never go wrong with Johnson and Johnson products. They are the all time best.
Johnsons was a staple when mine were little. I also like your tip of a gift for mom, we need love too.
Generally, I just get what’s on the registry! I know that I am VERY thankful that everything I had on my registry was gifted to us because all of the things have been so necessary!
These are thoughtful ideas for new moms. It can be hard to find something useful that makes for a great gift, and it is nice to find things moms can enjoy.
I like the “something for the new mom” gift suggestion. It is so easy for new mothers to get overwhelmed with the responsibility of caring for a newborn. A little something to help them relax is a great gift idea.
These are all wonderful and clever ideas to consider. I like it more sentimental to be honest. Giving gifts is really exciting.
I hate the gift pressure. It would kind of make you stressed at some point. Good thing you have posted this and gave us such great examples.
Those items sure are great gifts to give to expecting moms. I love shopping for baby items. They’re just adorable.
Baby shower is definitely one exciting event to have and attend to. I always feel joy when I see pregnant women, it’s a sign of hope (at least for me).
We have a baby shower this weekend, and these are darling ideas. I tend to select things that are practical. But I think that mamas could use a little love so I will pick up something for her too.
These are great gift ideas. I don’t think you can go wrong with a picture album or photo frame to capture all of babies personality. Now that our four kids are grown I find myself looking back at their baby photos with fond memories.
I feel like Johnson and Johnson products smells like perfection on a baby. I always get them as gifts.
I think these are wonderful ideas. Johnson’s always has some wonderful products for babies. I usually always get some of their items for baby showers.
These are some really fun baby shower gift ideas! Johnson’s Baby Bath and Baby Shampoo were products I used when my kids were little.
Such an exciting event! I loved that product when I was little.
Although I love sentimental gifts, I always go for practical and things parents need, like shampoo, lotion and diapers
Johnson & Johnson has been my go-to since having kids. I love giving gifts that are a mix of functional and indulgent!
The Johnson’s baby shampoo is my favorite! I’ve used it on all my kids.
These are all such great gift ideas! My kids still use Johnson & Johnson body wash and shampoo!!
