Last month, our little family set off on our first big trip together: Walt Disney World. I wasn’t too worried about the parks since I often visited the resorts pre-motherhood. What had me second-guessing our itinerary was the actual travelling aspect. How would Leo do on a plane? Are we better off making the 24-hour drive? Will he be able to handle it all?

The answer is yes, Leo did incredible (and he only pushed the seat in front of him a few times – by take off, he was sound asleep until we reached our destination!).

Today, our travel expert Josh is talking about the 4 must-have items to have when travelling with toddlers.

4 Items to Bring when Travelling with Toddlers

1. Technology: any flight, especially a long haul, can be very hard for kids to sit through quietly. Bring a tablet, laptop or smartphone, packed full of their fave shows and games. You’ll be happy you did. This also includes extra battery packs, headphones, etc.
2. Random surprises: Long before the technology era, I remember our first family road trip that went from one set of grandparents in Denver to the other set south of St Louis. It was a loooooong two days. My parents planned ahead and stocked up on all sorts of little surprises for my sister and I to open at random intervals. It helped break up the time and gave us kiddos something to look forward to. It worked.

3. Snacks: If you can, bring some fun snacks for the little ones in the group. It’ll help keep their hanger at bay.
4. Comforts of home: If your youngster has a blanket, stuffed animal or something else they are beyond obsessed with, bring it. This could help take the edge off and let them (and you) relax a little bit more.
