2017 Reading Challenge: 1 / 25

On your mark, get set, READ! I am so excited to finally kick-start this year’s reading challenge.

Every year, I like to set myself up with a reading challenge. I give myself a number of books to complete within a 12-month frame. Being a former bookstore manager, this challenge helped my career in many different ways. It allowed me to stay up-to-date with the hottest novels and nearly forced me to dip my toes in different genres. It also helped me make relevant recommendations to both employees and customers.

Back in 2015, I successfully completed my 50 book-challenge and boy, was it ever the adventure. I had my nose in novels that I would have never thought of reading before.

This year will be a little different.

I don’t really know what to expect as I enter motherhood. Sure, I am blessed with lots of support (thank goodness for my mama’s help). I plan on being hands-on with raising our son while still balancing my other hobbies and interests. This year, I cut my usual reading challenge in half. I am setting myself up for 25 books in 2017. That’s about 1 book every two weeks.

My first novel is ready and it’s one that I’ve had my eye on for a long time. I knew that I wanted something “parent-appropriate” and have heard nothing but great things about Bringing Up Bébé by Pamela Druckerman.

I’m eager to keep you all up-to-date with this year’s reading challenge. If you have any recommendations, let me know… stat! This is just the beginning!
