A new year has arrived and I’m as ready as I can be!
I’ve always been one for timelines, schedules and organization. I will gladly label myself a ‘control freak’ (in the most positive way possible). Sure, I like to kick back and relax every now and then. You can surely bet though, that my breaks are carefully planned within my day.
New Year’s has always been a funny celebration for me. I’ve had only a couple years’ worth of NYE party phases. Aside from those (somewhat embarrassing) events, I’ve always been one to lay low and spend quiet evenings with family.
I’m the same way with resolutions: I don’t flaunt them nor do I make lists that are set in stone. Rather, I like reflecting on what my goals should be and how realistically I could apply them.
In fact, I plan on being incredibly ambitious for 2017. I’ve got big plans brewing in my mind business-wise, family-wise and health-wise. I know what I want to focus on but I won’t pressure myself with deadlines and time limits. I’m as ready as I can be possibly be. No, this year’s goals may not involve a huge list but guess what? I’m totally okay with that.
This Year’s Plans
This year is already off to a great start. At this point, Joe and I are excitedly awaiting our little guy’s arrival. As two workaholics, it’s been hard for us to step back and just enjoy the moment. After much reflecting and sorting out our priorities, we quickly realized that baby is our #1. Ever since, it’s been easier to loosen our grip on certain responsibilities.
This year, I’ve decided to keep my list of goals short and sweet. Why pressure myself into completing a list of chores when I’ve already made one of my biggest accomplishments? Becoming a mother is certainly a dream come true.
- Get started on my 25 book-challenge (that’s about 1 book every two weeks)
- Sign up for the gym by the summertime, once I’m all settled in and have figured out a routine that’s best for my family
It’s as simple as that.
So yeah, my day-to-day itineraries may be specific and hey, it totally works for me. But I’ve got big plans that I don’t need to write down. Safe to say that the ‘control freak’ in me has another way of applying her goals this year. Here’s to a really exciting 2017!
