Lace cookies that are easy to make and easy to devour.
I often write about my mom being the main inspiration behind my baking endeavours. When we work together in the kitchen, she always has new tips up her sleeve. She often treats me as a novice/sous-chef. With her, every culinary experience is a great opportunity to learn even more.
For this week’s dessert, I actually turned to my older sister’s recipe for lace cookies. I remember how her after-school ritual would include baking half a batch and sharing them with me while we completed our homework.
After sending my sister a text asking for the recipe, it was obvious that she still had it completely memorized. Instantly, I received this reply:
1 cup flour
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 sticks butter
Grease cookie sheets. Drop 1 tsp of dough loosely. Bake at 350 degrees for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.

The pictures are making me hungry for sure. I think that this recipe would be simple to follow but not sure mine could look that good but I am going to try.
It’s amazing how simple ingredients can make a really good cookie. They look thin though – I think I’d prefer a thicker cut especially when it’s crisp and sweet. Warm milk would be a nice complement to drink.
These cookies look so good especially with a cup of hot tea or coffee. To be honest, I have seen these cookies many time just didn’t know they were called Lace Cookies. I need to see if I can make a few for the kids! Thanks for sharing this recipe!
Lace cookies scare me! I seriously thought they would be difficult to make but reading your post makes me feel like they may be something that I can handle after all.
I never had a lace cookie though I have seen a treat that reminds me of this. Looks and sounds good. So awesome that you got such a great art from your mom. Seems like you do it really well too.
I haven’t thought about lace cookies in such a long time! When I was little my grandma made them for special occasions. While I’ve tried, they’re never quite as good as hers. She always said the secret was to use a good non stick baking mat. x
I never knew this was so easy! I am so making these this week. I had cookies similar to this at the Fancy Food Show in Manhattan that were sandwiched with caramel or chocolate. I could not get over how delicious they were and now I can make them at home anytime I want!? Even better!! Thank you so much for this xx
This is so creative on how you make the lace cookies. You can make it pretty much on any occasion. Aside from the looks it seems like it taste very tasty too. All ingredients are easy to find and I always keep it on my kitchen. Looking forward for more of your recipe in the future.
Is this self rising or A/P flour
Hi Sandy!
It is all-purpose flour. I hope you have fun making it!
How many grams is a stick of butter. We can’t buy them in sticks, only 250g & 500g packs. Thanx dying to try them when I know how much butter to use.
Hi June!
One stick of butter is approximately 113 grams (1/2 cup) – I hope this helps. These lace cookies are absolutely delicious. One of my all-time favourites!
Thanks,
Lisa
