As you may have read, I spent a good portion of this month taking some pretty big steps in my life. There was a lot of big decision-making taking place and in order to wind down, I allowed myself to get lost in books that took me way back to my childhood.
Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh
I remember watching Nickelodeon‘s film adaptation of Harriet the Spy everyday after school. I first read the novel in the fifth grade and decided to revisit it for my own little throwback. Now that I think of it, Harriet was the ultimate (and original!) blogger (except she wrote everything down in her ultra-private spy notebook).
Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
My tenth grade teacher really helped us analyze this classic and it stuck with me ever since. Holden Caulfield is one of the most interesting fictional characters and this book will forever be a favorite on my shelf.
I Want to Go Home by Gordon Korman
This book is actually one of my sister’s childhood favorites and because I wanted to do everything she did, it naturally became one of mine, too.
What are some of your favorite childhood books?
